The beach on Montauk Point (near the lighthouse) on Long Island is very rocky. But very interesting… Even on fairly calm days, the waves constant repetitive motion imperceptibly wears down the stones along the shore. And on stormy days the seemingly resolute rocks can be thrown around like pebbles.
On this day it was a very overcast late aftrernoon, with a warm even light (like a monumental light box in the sky…). And then it started raining as it was starting to get dark, and I had to call it a day. This was one of my last shots. I was taken by the glistening solid-looking wet stones juxtaposed with the soft motion of the foamy waves…
