Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Garrison co Fermanagh the tree with the seat next to it is a classic composition the view changes dramatically through the seasons I took the shot in the autumn when the sun dips down behind the mountain and the sky is more interesting.. getting the lake surface to reflect the mountain was a bonus that elevated the composition. It is a favourite subject for me as I live less than 5 minutes away.

Time

The picture was taken in late afternoon just before sunset

Lighting

The lighting was all natural I did not wish to add any fill light because the dark foreground added to the composition

Equipment

I was using a Nikon D3300 mounted on a Benro Tripod

Inspiration

The correlation of the seat and tree create a classic composition that alters day by day and week by week . to do the subject to service it requires dedication to happen to be there at the right time for the best atmospheric shots

Editing

I did not do any processing at all to the image

In my camera bag

I carry with me in my bag my Nikon D3300 a Nikon 70/300 a sigma 70/300 DG macro, a Nikon 50MM 1.8, AND A KIT LENS NIKON 18/55 VR. I have my Benro Tripod , also a set of extension tubes I use for Macro shots

Feedback

Perseverance and Patience are needed for landscape because for that special shot you need the light right, the sky clouds and weather right and a good composition all to come together at once. Find a good subject and visit it many times noting the direction of the sun and the effects at different times until you know the best times and conditions to get the best chance of success.
