Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken in central Slovenia (my home country) in a gorge called "Hell gorge".

Time

I travelled by train and at 8 AM got off it. It was another hour of walking to the gorge and the photo was taken in morning hours - around 9:30 AM.

Lighting

Lighting wasn't great, because it was cloudy and on the bottom of a huge slope. I used PS to correct it, but it's still not perfect...

Equipment

I used Nikon D7200 with Sigma lens (17-50mm), Manfrotto befree tripod and Hoya ND 200 filter.

Inspiration

I like nature and study geography on a university and I wanted to go to a place where I haven't been before. I got the inspiration for a photo from other photographers who take similar photos of running water. I always try to make the best photo I can and that was it by that time... I'm trying to study photography even more and learn new things and I'll go to this gorge very soon again to try out what I learned.

Editing

I used PS just to improve brightness, contrast and vibrance. Other elements of the picture were already good enough.

In my camera bag

I always carry 2 lenses - Sigma 17-50mm and Nikkor 55-300mm and they complete each other. I'm slowly learning about photography, so I don't have a lot of equipment (the other reason is that I go to college and I don't have a job yet to have more money). There is also my Manfrotto befree tripod which is very small and handy, one ND 200 filter from Hoya, one camera remote controller from Nikon, a reserve battery and 2 SD cards.

Feedback

Go out, explore, find your perfect piece of nature and capture it on your camera. Experiment, learn and always try to make the best out of the circumstances.
