Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a local park. We live in a dry climate so finding new places to shoot is like a seek and find. You can always find beautiful places to shoot no matter your surroundings.

Time

I always shoot during the golden hour.

Lighting

This photo is black and white but highlights and shadows play an important role in all photography. This photo was shot with the sunset behind the family, so the color version shows beautiful creamy light.

Equipment

I use a canon 6d, and this particular shot an 85mm f 1.8. It is my current favorite lens! I love longer focal lengths.

Inspiration

I really want to capture genuine moments between parents and their children. I believe that these will be the photos where personalities shine through and clients will treasure.

Editing

I always start post processing in light room. I also usually start with presets and then fine tune them to my liking. I have however been doing more hand editing lately!

In my camera bag

I always carry my 85mm and a 24-70 f2.8. I also pack a 50mm.

Feedback

I like to always encourage families to interact and play as though I am not there. This tends to make emotions and expressions more natural.
