Great image. I would have loved to see it taken about a minute earlier where the sun was split under the walk way and shot at f22 and maybe have gotten a perfect star burst, but still a great image…b

It was the perfect mixture of light and cloud coverage to get this stunning orange glow in the sky.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS Rebel T3 with no flash. I used a tripod and my Tamron 70-200mm lens.Inspiration
I live only 2 miles from the beach and it had just rained and stopped right before sunset. I knew the cloud coverage that was still apparent in the sky, would make for a stunning sunset photo. So off to the beach I went. I was so right because the skies were beautiful that night. Believe me I have taken many photographs of sunsets. This nights sunset was so unique. The beautiful clouds and the suns bright orange flare coloring made a sunset I had never seen before. It was trutly breathtaking.Editing
Pier 60, I decided would add a lot of character to use as a composition in my photo. I then waiting till the moment the sunset was framed under the pier in the photograph. I felt that would add some extra drama for a more interesting effect. It almost makes the sun look like it is in a picture frame and I loved how the sun rays flare out.In my camera bag
I always carry with me, a tripod and my two lens both from Tamron. One is the 70-200mm and the other is 200-500mm. You never know when that perfect photo will come along and I feel I really need all this with me to be safe. I also always carry lens cleaning papers.Feedback
I went to the beach at least a hour before sunset. I research on the net what time sunset would be that day.To get the sharpest photos I used my tripod. It makes a perfect photo possible because you can make sure the water line is straight in the horizon. Also I try to add something more then just the sun and ocean. Anything can make the photo more interesting such as people, a pier, clouds in the sky, birds. The more elements I can add to the sunset the more of a dramatic effect is seen. Once I have the photo framed out in my lens I try to take as many photos as I can before the sun disappears. You would be suprised how much the sky changes color and cloulds change shape as the hour goes by. Also you may not notice while in the moment how much the waves at the beach throw off a mist that can give you spots on your lens. Just every 10 minutes or so clean your lens so you will not be disappointed afterwards.
