This glorious still photo of a Female Red-winged blackbird perched on a branch in the middle of spring, resting between feeding with its male counterpart a short distance away.
The female is completely subdued in its colouring and we were so surprised (although we should have known better) as to the complete colouration differences compared to the Male who is dark dark black overall with the tell-tale brilliant red-orange epaulettes on its wings.
Very zen like - reminds one of Japanese style silk prints.
This bird image was captured at High Park in Toronto.
