I have owned nothing but Mustangs. My last car accident prevented me from getting another because I can't get out of them anymore. Who though that day would come. I love the paint job, perfection.

Love mustangs... owned 4 including a 1970 Mach 1. I had to look at this photo for about 10 minutes before I realized there were people in it.

Had a '69 Mach I until I totaled it. Green and Black. Cleveland 4 terrell. Still have a few pieces of it. rubber in all 4 gears.

Location
I took this photo in Sandy Hook, Kentucky near what we call the New Bridge. It's right on a ledge over top a beautiful gorge, where the Old Bridge is located.Time
Our session started right before the golden hour so the couple could get broken in and comfortable in front of the camera - less posing, more natural and silly and loving. The sun was just starting to set and we were getting that beautiful golden light all photographers love. The red paint on the Mustang just popped!Lighting
I'm almost strictly natural light unless working with newborns, so angling the car just perfect in front of the sky was key. All credit to lighting goes to that beautiful gold sky and a photographer's eye for placement and posing!Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 70D and a lens that usually goes ignored: the Canon kit lens (18-55mm).Inspiration
The couple I was working with for their engagement session are really into older cars, so I knew I really had to make a special image for them with their classic beauty. I haven't worked with cars during my photography career much so I really wanted to push myself to get the best image possible. I think with their help, we totally nailed it.Editing
Yes, in Photoshop Camera RAW I tweaked the colors some, but mostly lowered highlights to bring out the clouds a little more and raised the shadows create just the right amount of depth and try not to lose any detail. I saturated the red color of the car just a tad to bring out its true color and added some highlights on the couple so they didn't go unnoticed. The headlights weren't actually on, so I decided to take a deep breath, be brave and see if I could realistically add in some headlights myself (using the selection tool feathered at 50px, filled with a slight yellow tint). I also added a little fog around the ground for effect.In my camera bag
I never go anywhere without basically all of my equipment because you just never know! I lug around a basic black backpack I bought from Amazon Basics with my Canon 70D which usually sports my Canon 50mm f/1.8 (we all have a favorite). I also carry a Canon 85mm f/1.8, Canon 70-300mm f/4, Canon 18-55 f/3.5, a Yongnuo speedlite (which I LOVE when working with newborns or poorly lit wedding ceremonies), and other small accessories. I also crocheted a purple and grey striped camera strap which is very comfy.Feedback
Although as photographers we may have the mindset that shooting in during the golden hour makes everything easier and more beautiful, you always gotta think about placement of your model, or classic model. Place your model where the light compliments them. Use your surroundings to your advantage, and pay attention to composition. In this photo, I was a little picky and asked them to move the car over a foot or two, more than once, just to make sure it was in that perfect spot. That big opening in the sky behind them between the mountains was the perfect place to highlight them while also getting some great light for the car!
