Behind The Lens

Location

I live in an apartment building on a crossroads and as I don't drive most of my pictures come from the same spot. I call it "my garden" and I visit it twice a week ( my days off) to recharge my energy and feed my creativity, as after 6 years I think I know every flower, each bush and snail... It keeps surprising me all the time! This is the sunset over the highway the way this flower sees it :)

Time

The sun was pretty low already and I had to be really quick. I had to lie down and pay no attention to the horns of passing trucks - I wonder what were they thinking I was doing....

Lighting

It was fairly dark already, but the sun was pretty bright. Yes, I didn't forget that the sun can damage the sensor and my eyes- but I hoped that it was not as bright as during the day and the flower and grass behind it helped a bit...

Equipment

My Nikon 7000 and Nikkor lens 16-85mm f 3,5 - 5,6 survived. It was manually held, no filters used

Inspiration

Every time I am going down to my garden I wonder what new I might see or meet. I stop and look around, very slowly. First at my eye level, then, even slower, down. First I grasp it all together, then more and more details come up. When I go down to my knees, I am already part of this wonderful micro world, mesmerized by its hidden life, by its beauty...

Editing

I take my pictures in raw, so they need some processing. I start with Camera Raw and then...whenever my inspiration takes me. In this case I kept it simple: boosted a bit saturation and vibrance, increased temperature ....

In my camera bag

If I don't plan anything in particular and just want to go with the flow I take my 50mm and my macro lens as well...I always have some plastic shopping bags to put under my knees, soft cleaning tissue for a lens, my bag that I can use instead of tripod, remote control and....hand sanitizer

Feedback

Not always we can travel all over the world and take pictures of those breathtaking views - sometime to hop on a train or a bus is not easy. So, the challenge to see everyday world around us in a different way and take a picture of it is very exciting! Look closer, look at the details, patterns, insects and bugs, changing colours, light and shadows, shoot against the sun, put your camera on grass and enjoy the bokeh created by dew, follow the sun beams and capture the wind....
