Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken at my local botanical gardens, a place I often like to go walking as there are so many different things to see and it changes with the seasons.
Time
It was taken late in morning purely because I felt like going out for a walk and always had my camera with me.
Lighting
I used the natural light that was coming in between the trees, I tried a flash and didn't like the look.
Equipment
I used my Sony DSC WX-350, no flash, no tripod, just the dandelion in one hand and my camera in the other.
Inspiration
It was purely by accident that this photo came to be. I'd wandered off the path a bit hoping to get a photo of the rabbits that hang out in the area, without luck. I looked around the area I was in to see what else was there and saw this dandelion sticking up. I liked that part it had already been blown away and decided to take some photos of it instead.
Editing
I wanted the dandelion to stand out so cropped away as much of the background as I could and selected to focus in on it. That was it for the time. I came back to it a bit down the track as I felt it need something.Using the effects on the viewbug site, I have very basic, minimal editing software of my own, I applied a vignette, HD and after trying a some different effects I decided to use the indiglow effect as I loved how it had come up.
In my camera bag
I only own one piece of photography equipment, my Sony DSC WX-350 camera which comes with me everywhere I go, along with a bottle of water.
Feedback
Don't be put off if you only have minimal and/or basic equipment, you can still get great results using what you have access to. Try different effects until you find what works for the image. I always take multiple of photos of the same object so I'll have lots of options and I try any effects I think might work on them. If they do great and if not I try something else. If I'm photographing outdoors I like to try the same place at different times of day and year, and in different weather to get different effects.
