The lady in the middle is from Iowa and the guy on the right is teaching her how to take pictures. I love the symmetry of the shot. This is 6am and the sun hasn't come all the way up. The shadow about even with their heads is from the hill behind us as the sun illuminates the wall in the distance. I am using my working lens Nikkor 28-300 at 230mm, f5.6 shutter speed 1-320, ISO 400. I stepped up the hue and saturation a little as well as correcting the white balance. The shot looks almost a vibrant as what I remember. The sandstone is a beautiful red. It's hard to bring the people up to being as bright as I remember without wrecking the shot but I like the shadow anyway. Brings the moon and wall into focus as the subject (MY INTENTION) and the people become part of the landscape.
Taking a picture of people taking pictures is fitting with regards to photography. Photography allows me to meet new people and shoot them. :-). The lady in the middle is a teacher and going to South America soon. She wants to learn how to take better pictures and I can't think of a better thing to do because I am always learning. I love to see people exploring the art of photography and their dedication to perfecting that art. What a beautiful classroom to learn something. Could anyone ask for more? Not I.
