Location
St Mary's, Church, Tadcaster, North Yorkshire. The photo was taken on boxing day during the floods in my home town of Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. 26.12.2015. The flooding was a tragic event for our town with many people moved out of their homes and the main bridge damaged putting it out of use and dividing the two in two.Time
This was shot around 5.30pm.Lighting
I shot this image from an elevated balcony after seeking permission from a local resident. I needed the extra height so the flooding of the church yard was more visible. The lighting was difficult because there was a spot light with blew out the high lights on an average exposure so I shot an extra image just for the high light and blended it in photoshop. I used a gitzo tripod to make sure all the images were aligned after carefully considering the best angle. I also had to shield the lens from the glare of a street light and constantly wipe the lens with a micro fibre cloth as the rain was also a problem.Equipment

Even though this was a tragic event the surreal beauty of this image and the historical significance of the flooding and the impact on the lives of the residents of the town compelled me to take this image.Editing
I used Adobe Bridge to select the best images and combined an exposure for the highlights with an average exposure then blended these in photoshop layers. Apart from a bit of dodging and burning I didn't have to do much more to it and wanted to not change any subject matter as I wanted to maintain the images news integrity.In my camera bag

Search out the best position first hand held with the best lens, use a tripod for maximum sharpness and stability. Have a cloth handy to wipe away rain. Have right clothing ready for the conditions....a Yorkshire saying is that there is no such thing as wrong weather just the wrong clothing.'
