Location
This photo was taken in my studio on a background that I built.Time
The photo time didn't matter. The lighting was all controlled in studioLighting
The lighting was a white lightning 1600 with a large soft box to the left of the subject. There was no fill light on the right side, but I did use a hair light just above. I found that this was the best way to keep the background fairly dark and get the sweat to glisten.Equipment
I used a nikon d810 camera, one white lightning main light with a softbox, a white lightning hair light and a 24-85 mm nikon lensInspiration
Actually the subject inspired me. She was an avid boxer and fitness guru, and mentioned me photographing her in her boxing attire. We set up the shoot and I just went to work. She had the look, and she was quite relaxed being photographed.Editing
There was very little post processing done, outside of the usual density and color adjustments. I did add a light HDR filter to give it a grungier feel. The sweat was accomplished with baby oil and a spray bottle. In my camera bag
I carry a couple of nikon D 810's ( my go to camera ). Usually there is an assortment of speed lights when I am on location and several lenses included a 85 mm zoom, a 200 mm zoom and a 300 mm zoom. I have a reflector and shade with me at all times to avoid outdoor flash if at all possible.Feedback
Baby oil rubbed on the body and a warm spray bottle make perfect sweat. Use a rugged background, but a soft light. It'll fill in the edges of the model if you only use one and give her an edgy look. Make your model comfortable. It makes all the difference in the world.
