This exact photo was taken in Venice near St. Mark's square. This is one of the very first photos that I took in Italy, and I must say that I'm very proud of it since I am a beginner. Venice is a perfect place to take photographs since you never know what you will find behind a corner on the street. Each narrow path, bridge, nook and cranny has it's own unique appeal. I wish that I could have stayed for longer in Venice and explore the 'veins' and 'arteries' of this beautiful floating townTime
'Il Punto' as I called this photograph was taken on a crisp spring morning. I can't remember exactly what time it was,but I do remember that I was exhausted from the long plane flight and the further bus journey from Milan Airport to Venice. The smell of freshly brewed espresso and buttery cornettos spread throughout the alleyways, signalling a start to another day in Venice.Lighting
I personally aimed for a reflection in the water. This way the water looks lively and 'alive', drawing the attention of the eye to the center of the photograph. At the same time, the natural lighting of the sun enhances the vibrant colors of the surrounding area and the crystal clear blue sky.Equipment
This photo was shot using a Samsung Galaxy Camera GC100. No other equipment was used, just the camera and my eye.Inspiration
Since this was my first time visiting Italy, never-mind Venice, I felt obliged to take as many photos as possible. I especially love the over lapping bridges and the decorative metal fence which fits perfectly with the over all composition of the photo. I find the bridges and small alleyways fascinating because it give character to the rustic buildings.Editing
Yes, I did some post-processing. I wanted to enhance the vibrancy of the colors and make them stand out. I adjusted the color levels and brightness. I am a beginner when it comes to photo editing and processing, but I'm constantly working at improving my skills. In my camera bag
You might be surprised to hear this, but I don't carry a bag with me. Yes I do have a protective cover for my camera but that's about it. I don't have much experience with different lenses and other specialized equipment since I am an amateur photographer.Feedback
Timing is essential, you do not want to be stuck in a group of tourists blocking your view. Take several photos of the same landscape, you can chose your favorite photo later. Do not hesitate to take a lot of photos, especially if you're visiting a distant place. Most importantly, think outside the box. Investigate your surroundings and take photos from different angles. A single object or landscape can look completely different depending on the viewing angle.
