I waited for the sun to set right underneath the main structure of the pier which created this beautiful glow of light 'straight down the middle'Equipment
Camera, tripod, 18-55mm lens, polariser, remote shutter release (no nd filters used)Inspiration
The structure of the pier from underneath but particularly the way the sun had set directly beneath the structureEditing
Usual basic adjustments in LightroomIn my camera bag
Camera, tripod, nd grads, nd filters, polariser, 18-55mm lens, 50mm lens, wide angle lens, lens cloth, grey card, remote shutter release.Feedback
If you are able to re-visit a scene, this was not the first shot taken from this viewpoint but I knew the sun was tracking round as the season progressed and at some point would set directly underneath the structure, which set the shot apart from something that had been done before. Arrive early and Take the time to set up the shot (making sure equipment is clean too) always use tripod and remote shutter release when using longer exposures (which is often the case in landscape photography) use a mid range aperture for greatest depth of field and keep iso settings to the lowest possible. To balance bright skies and darker foregrounds bracket your exposures or carefully place nd grads, exposing for the foreground and balancing the sky accordingly.
