The sun was setting but the colors in the sky were very faint. This was uncommon for Florida sunsets but they do happen. I immediately knew I would go with a black and white conversion and I knew I wanted to overexpose the image to get some nice contrast. The piling were being back lit so I knew they would be in silhouette and that overexposing them would being out some details and texture.
