I've wanted to visit Palouse for a few years now. I love the green rolling hills!! When is the best time of year to visit when everything's green?

May and June are best for greens. They change throughout the period, and it's never the same from year to year. Winter wheat, planted in the fall, is first to appear (it actually stays green through the winter). Additional fields are plowed and planted with spring wheat, garbanzos, peas, lentils, canola, etc., so that the colors and textures change steadily throughout the spring and summer. By mid-July, the winter wheat is starting to turn from green to blonde as it ripens. Harvest might begin at the very end of July, but usually it takes place in the month of August. You'll enjoy your visit. Stop by the Chamber of Commerce and pick up a photography hot spots map, and you'll have a ball.

Fantastic composition. I like the lines. I have only made it to Colfax in August and September when it is dry and dusty.

Thank you, all, for your kind words. The Palouse region of SE Washington/N Idaho is a magical place, especially between April and August. If you're ever inclined to travel this way for a photo excursion, you won't be disappointed.
