Behind The Lens

Location
This was my first shoot with this Russian beauty Natasha. We shot this in Bali, at the home of the owner of the swimwear she's wearing; Andi Bagus.
Time
It's always a hot, bright day in Bali (unless we're in monsoon season) so I like to find a sheltered spot when I shoot.
Lighting
I always use natural light on my shoots, I like the honesty of it, I like the challenge of looking for the perfect spot.
Equipment
Nikon D610 and fixed 50mm 1:1.4
Inspiration
I wanted to show Natasha's 'world' tattoo on her wrist and the window was a perfect way to show it without looking forced.
Editing
I do little retouching on my shots, just grading, which I like to spend quite of bit of time on it.
In my camera bag
Very little. I have a couple of lens that I call on, but more often than not I just shoot on the 50mm 1:1.4. I like to work fast as well so this helps make my mind up!
Feedback
Stay natural, get to know your model, find out what makes her comfortable and what poses she holds well.
