Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near where I live, I was exploring a country lane and saw this little cottage set amongst all the fields, it seemed a typical English rural Spring scene

Time

This was taken in the morning, I wasn't sure the weather would hold out as there were dark clouds coming over but the sun was still shining, giving some lovely colours and contrasts

Lighting

Spring sunlight was just about the disappear behind the clouds

Equipment

Nikon D5100 with Nikkor 55-300mm telephoto lens, no tripod or flash.

Inspiration

I loved the way the cottage appeared to nestle in the landscape and become part of it, as well as the wonderful colours of Spring in the fields of rapeseed and the woods behind

Editing

Just a little contrast adjustment

In my camera bag

I mostly use my Nikon & telephoto lens, but I also carry an Olympus TG-1 (especially if it looks like rain as it is waterproof) and sometimes a Nikon J2 with a 10-30mm lens as this is good for wider angle photos. I do have a tripod & a monopod but don't often carry them as I have back and joint problems so need to keep weight to a minimum. I'm never without a spare battery and SD card!

Feedback

I'd say always be on the lookout for shots, wherever you are and try to find a slightly unusual angle if possible.
