Location
This photo was taken in the outskirts of a small English town called Dulverton, county of Devon. A lovely area for hikes and horse rides.Time
The photo was taken during long walk after late lunch. One of these days when you don't need to track the time and you have all the conditions to do so since the sun was hidden and the nature was very still, no people around.Lighting
It was a cloudy day, you know - a British daylight.Equipment
As still being baby photographer I had my Nikon D5200 with a kit lens - that's it.Inspiration
I was walking on a path that took me around someones big ranch, there was a smaller path that led me to the back of the property and there they were - these two beautiful horses. I didn't wanted to trouble than with the camera at first so I approach without shooting. They were curious and came towards me. There was a wooden fence between us and for sure they wanted to go beyond it, though the pony was a bit shy. Most of the time we spent together was petting and talking about the weather. I took a few photos and one of then was while hanging on the fence - this is the one. Most of the time we spent together was petting and talking about the weather.Editing
The original photo was taken in color, and it was one of the first photos I've made with this camera. I remember cropping it in Photoshop, and then browsing the Internet for a photo filter that I like. So here is the result. In my camera bag
Lately I care a tripod. Usually just the camera, since I rarely have the time to do only photos - it's some other activity and around it a shot or two.Feedback
Each animal has an unique character and also moods and they get manifested in a variety of ways. Some of them even pose when photograph, but that is rare. So to capture the expression of an animal one needs to be patient, but also to combine gentleness with vigilance. For me of a great importance when taking a photo of a being is not to make the process unpleasant or threatening for anyone! I think this is the best advice.
