Knowing the area helps. Know your tides (find an app), what areas are good for a high tide Vs a low tide. get there with at least an hour before sunset/rise. Be prepared for mother nature to not cooperate. Be careful not to trap yourself on a rock because you weren't watching the tide coming in (yes its happened, thankfully I only had to get my feet wet)
