Behind The Lens

Location

The photo has been taken in Turkey, In Turkish Kürdistan, around Tatvan and Van along the Lake of Van, extreme East of the Country, at the border with Iran. The original photo is a diapositive, FujiFilm that I have scaned. It was a long time ago, when I was 22 years old, in 1987! I am born in 1965, so it is one of the first reporting work I did about Kürdistan.

Time

That was just before sunset, you can see the big lake of Van in the backround.

Lighting

I wanted a short perspective and focus on the boy and his horse, so I used a big aperture and a zoom 70-210mm.

Equipment

At that time, I had a Nikon FA and a zomm Nikon 70-210mm

Inspiration

This is a example of a on the spot very speed picture as I was walking around the lake in a deserted place. The boy just arrived, passed and we said "hello" to each other and that was it. I have only one slide of him.

Editing

As a diapositive, I just scanned it, 10 years ago. It is as the slide was. I just worked the scan in Jpg on Photoshop, but only vibrancy and contrasts a little bit. This is an example of a one shot good shot. As I love horses and children, I just did it and have been very lucky!!!

In my camera bag

Now, since beginning of Numeric Times, I use a Canon EOS 600D and 2 zooms. A 18-55mm and a 55-210mm. As I love to do humanist pictures and landscapes, I shoot in RAW and process on Photoshop CS9.

Feedback

I shoot all the day, but with a preference for the 2 golden hours after sunrise and before sunset as colors are so much better, as you know already!
