... in the name of Lord knows what, the coot flock sometimes jams so close you'd think someone just dropped the finest food midst all those wings, beaks and feather!
But it is not about food, as coots do not feed when they behave in this manner.
So it must be a dance of sorts, testing of power, maybe a display of fitness or pure coot cuteness.
Pretty similar to human dancing, this... only simpler, more to-the-point; a preliminary to practical procreative purposes.
