Jessica, don't you just love burrowing owls? So cute and smart. Love this shot and title. See my photo of a burrowing owl named "Cooper".

Such a cool photo. It's hard to get that different "look" from these little owls. Congrats.

Location
I took this photo in Cape Coral, Florida while on a walk by our house!Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon-evening hours, my favourite time to take pictures because of the amazing lighting.Lighting
The lighting was perfect- no glares or harsh rays. The sun kept the photo well-lit with the perfect brightness.Equipment
I used my Sony Slt-A33 camera with a 75-300 mm lens! It's my favourite lens due to its resolution and zoom range.Inspiration
I was walking my dog and knew I had to photograph this owl the second I saw it. He tilted his head slightly to the side, which made me think that he tried to reach the height of the plant behind him. I found that amusing, and quickly captured it before he moved, knowing I may never get a picture like that again.Editing
I didn't do any post-processing!In my camera bag
I usually have my Sony Slt-A33 with the 75-300 mm lens, my Sony A6000, a lens cloth, my charger, and extra batteries.Feedback
To capture a similar photo, strive for the perfect lighting. You don't want the photo to be too dark or too bright, but right in between. Angles are also a major factor. I had to squat pretty low to capture his whole body, as well as the stand and plant in the background. A lens with a far range (I prefer 300mm, but it's up to you) is recommended so you don't have to get extremely close to the owl. He is a wild animal, and we didn't want to disturb him. Lastly, take advantage of every opportunity! If you see something that would make an amazing photograph, go for it. Be willing to take risks to get that perfect shot (:
