This photo was taken at Stranraer Lowland games, the Owls were part of a display of Birds of Prey, some of the birds are nearing extinction so it is wonderful to see that they are being nurtured and cared for.Time
It was afternoon on a beautiful summer's day....well beautiful for Scotland, where we just expect the rain to be a little warmer, so sunshine is an added bonus...Lighting
The lighting was just natural, nothing special , I do prefer the natural look to my pictures.Equipment
The camera used was a FinePix S2950, my first venture unto a "real" camera, although it was used on the Automatic setting. Aperture f/5.6, shutter speed 10/1800, focal length 6350/100..... I have since purchased a Nikon D3200 and love it, getting reasonable results but still have a great deal to learn. I am considering trying a photography course but at age 69 it is a bit daunting.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of wildlife, particularly birds. We live in a beautiful world and I am always in awe of nature and our surroundings. If I don't have a camera, I always have my phone and ready to capture anything I find inspiring.Editing
I try not to do any processing on my pictures, perhaps a quick enhance if necessary but I prefer a natural result and to be perfectly honest some of the software is quite complex and I don't have time to sit and play about with it. I do have an Adobe package and a Corel Paintshop Pro X8 which I rarely use.....On this occasion I used the editing software in windows 10 which is quite basic but gave me the crop and enhance featureIn my camera bag
As a newbie to the hobby I am just starting to gather some equipment...I always carry my Nikon D3200 with an 128 - 55 mm lens, I also have a Nikon DX 55- 200 mm telephoto lens, loads of filters, a Macro and a Wide angle lens, digital high definition 2x telephoto lens.... just getting to grips with what I should use for the effect I want. I have a lot to learn but reasonably pleased with some of my photos.Feedback
I am not really experienced enough to give advice on a similar capture, I tend to choose my scene and shoot a few copies, try a few different settings and then pick out the ones I prefer. I really don't have the confidence, skill or knowledge to comment further, I strive to improve and hope others see the photos in a way I would like. Thank you.
