Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near Cochrane in Alberta, Canada

Time

I took this photo during a late evening aurora show.

Lighting

Since this photo was taken at night, the only light used were the Northern Lights.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D810 and 24-120mm f/4 lens. Of course I also used a tripod since it was a long exposure.

Inspiration

We knew the aurora was going to be out that night, so drove around to try and find a good spot. Little did we know that we would get so lucky and experience such an amazing show!!

Editing

I didn't do a lot of post-processing, other than white balance correction and some added saturation.

In my camera bag

For landscapes I usually shoot with my Nikon D810 and 24-120mm f/4. I also have a Manfrotto tripod.

Feedback

I'm no expert at shooting the Northern Lights. But what I could recommend is just keep trying, just keep going out and try new things! That's how I learned most of what I know!
