Soft, gentle, and feminine. A perfect combination of lighting, model, mood in a simplistic style. A masterpiece! An amazing beauty!

Masterpiece

Nadya

This is all natural light, had the window on my right, and made it wrap around Nadya's face softly.

Behind The Lens

Location
It was taken in a studio with big windows, for natural light. I am a self taught portrait and fashion photographer. The photo was taken right after a workshop, where i had booked Sean Archer to come and teach us. Nadya and I, had a hour of shooting afterwards, where we could get several looks, and this is by far my favorit one.
Time
As we where still in the winter season, with not that much light, I used the big window in the studio. At around midday, the sun was moving fast across the sky, and the window was faced west, and had nice soft light comming in.
Lighting
I placed Nadya a few feet from the window, and a little in the shadow, for a nice light on her face. we tried several places, but this was by far the best one, with nice soft lights wrapping her beautiful face.
Equipment
I used my Nikon D7200, and a 50mm Sigma Art for the portrait.
Inspiration
I had just finished a workshop by Sean Archer, and wanted to work more with Natural light.
Editing
The photo is cropped, to get the rule of thirds in action. small healing brush touchups. Some soft dodge and burning in photoshop, along with some toning. Adding some contrast to the eyes, and then brightening them a bit. I tried to keep the portrait as natural as possible.
In my camera bag
I always use a Nikon D7200. In my bag i have the following lenses, always. - 50mm Sigma Art - 24-70mm Nikon f/2.8 - 85mm Nikon f/1.8D On top of that, a cloth and dust blower to clean lenses. Tethering cable, when i work in a studio.
Feedback
Always look in the face how the light falls, and use the shadows to create interesting depth in the photos. Dont ever overdo your postprocessing, it will look unnatural and people will notice. Try to place the model in the shadow, and then have her move small steps forward into the light, untill you find the perfect light for what you want.
