Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a seashore in Sicily, precisely in the small village of Punta Secca, a quiet place during the winter, but very popular in the summer by citizen and tourist.

Time

This is one of my favourite pictures, I love it so much! For me is perfect. I remeber was a typicall Scilian Sunday during the winter. That Sunday I was at home and I decided to move close to the seaside with the idea to shoot few pictures at the landscape. I started to walk looking for... I saw a natural pool on the rocks and I saw the glare of the Sky with is clouds and the sun. After that I saw the splash and I decided to capture it in my pictures. Not an easy way

Lighting

There was something special in the air, the clouds and the light of the sun during the sunset in the air and reflected on the sea, and the wonderful noise of the sea with is waves

Equipment

This picture was shot on a Olympus OMD EM5, lens 12-50 mm, I remember that I placed my camera on the rocks, I remeber that I not had my small tripod in my bag

Inspiration

I was walking in the seaside looking a good position to catch up the sunset, but immediatly I saw a natural pool in the rocks where there was a wonderful reflect of the sky

Editing

Normally I try to change just few element to have again the same colors, lights when I shooted the picture; but in that case I remeber that I had not done important post-processing, changing the size from 4:3 to 16:9, sharpness, brightness and saturation of few colours as blue, yellow and orange

In my camera bag

Always and I repeat Always I have my OMD EM5 Olympus, two Batteries, my two lenses (12-50mm and 9-18), one vintage lens 50mm f1.8 and the small tripod, in my car always big tripod

Feedback

During the sunset you do not have so much time, maybe just few minutes. Important if you want a landscape with a sunset, arrive to the place with time, normally I used to be there 1-1.5 hours before to find the best position, and obviusly, Be ready when the sun start to go down, remember you do not have so much time...
