Gorgeous Male Double-crested Cormorant staring straight at you on river log in heat of summer at Humber Bay Park West - Mimico Creek. The temperature was over 100 degrees fahrenheit and in the lazy heat of this summer day, this Cormorant was resting on the log between feeding with zero fear of my Son and I looking at it from the edge of the river bank some 75 feet away. This was part of a group of some twenty or so Double-crested Cormorants which had taken residence near the mouth of the river feeding into Lake Ontario. A prehistoric looking bird with wild blue-teal coloured eyes and brilliant yellow neck pouch. A big somewhat intimidating bird with wingspan of around 3-4 feet. Photo by my Son Robson Smith.
