Location
The picture is taken on a holiday in Bourgougne / France. The castle is called Chateau de Berzé-le-Châtel and is a private property and already inhabited. The castle includes a old chapel from the 10th century.Time
The picture was taken in the late afternoon.Lighting
I started a series of pictures named the "Dark Ages", because I'm a fan of medieval things (old castles, churches, houses and so on). If you say dark ages, it should be dark, mysterious and some times a bit spooky. To get all the details and also the possibility for the used tone mapping. I've done pictures with different exposer times for a HDR picture.Equipment
Picture was taken with a Canon EOS D6 with a 28-80mm Zoom lens with 28mm.Inspiration
my interest for old things ;)Editing
as told, this picture is a HDR out of three pictures with different exposer time. Additional tone mapping with a high detail contrast and changing of the colour with Photomatix Pro. Additional contrast and selective colour with Photoshop CC.In my camera bag
I'm using a Canon EOS 6D with a 28mm to 80mm Canon standard zoom and a Tamron 70 -200mm f/2,8 Apo Zoom. Some different ND and IR filters.Feedback
Go travelling, or visit a near by castle. Use the moment, if the light is very nice, or as in this case, the clouds are very dramatic. Have a view for the rules of the third or the golden section, before you take the picture. Look out for other people, which are visiting the place and maybe you are lucky enough, that nobody will be on the picture. If you want to make a HDR, inform you before, which exposure times and software are needed and maybe do a try with a wall at home first. At least, try as much as you can and give the picture your own style and don't go for imitating others, the only way to be unique.
