Location
This photo was taken in a park alongside a farmyard here in my hometown Kumeu, Auckland.Time
Around 4pm in the afternoonLighting
It was an overcast day with a slight slither of sun just over the mountains.Equipment
Canon 600D, 85mm lens and that's it!Inspiration
I'm sure everyone with a 2year old will agree that getting a good shot of your kid - preferably in focus too - is not the easiest by far. I asked my horse-loving daughter if she wanted to see the 'ponies' and she bolted across the field and climbed up the fence, whilst I was running behind her with one eye on her and the other trying to set my camera settings. And would you believe, she stood that still for about 15 minutes watching those amazing animals.Editing
Yes, a sunset sky was added as well as warm toning. I wanted the image to have a 'feeling', a connection and for me, this translates to warmth and adoration. In my camera bag
Camera, 50mm & 85mm and lens pen. I like to 'travel' light.Feedback
When doing shots like this with kids, just let them be. Had I posed my daughter for this shot, I feel it would have lacked emotion.
