This image was taken in my home studio.Time
I believe it was night time... Because I used strobes I could simulate daylight and ultimately could shoot at any time of the day.Lighting
I used strobes when shooting this image. So studio lighting was used, but similar effects can be achieved using daylight depending on the time of day.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D mark III, Canon 180mm macro lens, 500ws strobes (two of them), bristol board as the backdrop, and thats it!Inspiration
I was creating a food series and wanted to play around with some colourful desserts. I figured macaroons would be a great options so I began playing around by stacking, leaning, tilting and submerging the french cookies together or on/in other subject matter. This was a more simplistic shot that focused on tonal differences in the cookies.Editing
Very minimal post processing was needed for this image. I believe I cropped and made minor brightness adjustments. In my camera bag
My must have gear is my Canon 5D mark III camera body, a 24-105mm Canon lens, and depending on the project usually one other specialty Canon lens.Feedback
Try things! It's the digital age so if something doesn't work it can be deleted and isn't costing you a fortune! If you want to do something DO IT! Keep shooting and you will continue to improve your skills and get better at everything you do! Most importantly have fun!
