Behind The Lens

Location

this photo taken in a Sicilian plain, in the open air, in a spring period a few years ago.

Time

the photo was taken in the early afternoon, most likely it was 14:00, I had brought the telephoto lens with me, because I had intended to take more photos, but I came across this little flower that attracted me a lot, I remember how if it were today, I put the camera on the tripod, and tried several shots, of course always leaving the lens aperture with maximum aperture, because I was interested in blurring the background, I remember that there was a bit of sun, and it was the time windy. so as to try several photographic shots, to find the right angle, as well as the wind did not allow me to take pictures, or at least I thought I, then instead I found a way to keep the flower still as I wanted. and at the last shot I had the result that you see.

Lighting

this photo I made with natural lights, without using any artificial light, having the sun behind me and being in spring the natural light favored the right color of the photo, as well as the machine was already set in manual.

Equipment

for this photo I used a nikon d3s as the camera body, while a 70-200 from tamorn as a lens, the camera was connected to a tripod, to have more agility in creating the scene, despite the fact that nature was already there ready to wait for it was immortalized.

Inspiration

what inspired me this photo, the color of purple which is a color that we do not always find in nature, if in some periods or in some flowers, it was also isolated, as if it were a scene, then the background, those herbs with a very green delicate, they inspired me a lot, the delicacy of the flower itself led me to choose this element to immortalize it in my photographic shots, it seemed to be dancing among nature.

Editing

the photograph was not post-produced, the shot is original, I didn't even fix the colors, I left the colors as they were in reality.

In my camera bag

normally in my bag, the camera equipment I keep is the following, nikon d3s camera body - 24-70mm nikon f2.8 lens - 70-200mm tamron f.2.8 lens - flash speedlight sb 700 - 4 compactflash of 8 gb each

Feedback

if you don't have a lot of photographic equipment but want to photograph a similar flower, you can simply photograph it with the 70-200mm. I recommend always leaving a maximum aperture, to detach the subject from the background, and make it the protagonist, use times that are not too fast, I would say a 125s is sufficient, always use a low ISO especially if it is in natural light and during the day, sufficient a 200 iso. One piece of advice I give is to be careful where the sun is, in order to avoid being in a condition that cannot be photographed, and therefore you could opt to change your angle, or point of view, as you can see the flower is not exactly al center, you can help yourself with the rules of third parties or even decentralizing the image, but already during the shooting phase so as not to do too much processing in the development phase.
