Location
Cologne is an amazingly beautiful city with the best Wiener Schnitzel I ever had. Here I am on the east side of the Rhine River with the Hohenzollern Bridge and the Cologne Cathedral in my viewfinder.Time
This was shot a few hours after sunset, where you can see the city lights lighting up the sky in the background.Lighting
I set the exposure time to 10 seconds to get enough light from the bridge and the cathedral to get enough light. I didn't have a tripod available but there was an old wall that worked perfectly to put the camera on.Equipment
Nikon D7100 with the Nikon 50mm was the perfect setup for night-shot. ISO set to 100 and f/7.1 with ten seconds exposure.Inspiration
The environment at the Hohenzollern Bridge is just so beautiful, you can't be anything but inspired. In this particular case I was attracted to the way the line of the bridge draws your eyes to the cathedral, and the combination of yellow colors on the bridge and the blue/grey of the cathedral.Editing
Just a few minor basic tweaks such as pull up the shadows and down with the highlights was applied. Nothing else.In my camera bag
I normally travel with my Nikon D7100 or Sony a6300. Both are amazing cameras and if I had to choose I would be in real trouble.Feedback
Tripod or something steady to put your camera on is a must for these kinds of long exposure shots. Also, give yourself time to look for a great location. In this case, the lines of the bridge and the cathedral lined up great.
