I took this photo on the clients bed as the pillows made for an awesome backdrop, especially being they were for a wedding day boudoir shootTime
While midday shooting usually isnt the optimal time of day to carry out such things, it worked perfectly for this shoot. Being that it was shot on the actual day of the wedding, we didnt really have the time or opportunity to be picky about thingsLighting
The natural lighting was in our favour this day. With windows above and to the right of the bed, it gave a nice natural and even glow to her skin. With a lot of white props in the shot (pillows, bed cover, lingerie) it could have easily worked against usEquipment
This was shot with a Canon 70D and an 18-55mm lens at f3.5. Luckily, i didnt need any other equipmentInspiration
The pillows. Normally boudoir shoots focus on the female, but being a guy myself i didnt think it was fair that the husband-to-be missed out too....even if it is just his pillow in the shot. The image to me shows sexiness without showing off too much. The dark of the bed head at the top and then her hair at the bottom breaks up the mass of whiteEditing
Not a massive amount of post-processing was done. I converted the image to black and white in Lightroom, then removed some stray hairs in photoshop. I wanted to try and keep it as natural as possibleIn my camera bag
Because i normally shoot street photography and car shows, i try and keep as little as possible in there for weight reduction. Normally though it houses my Canon 70D, an 18-55mm lens, a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens, a Canon 70-200mm f/4, Yongnuo YN560 III, handheld LED light, spare batteries, 2 x extra SD cards and a bottle of waterFeedback
Even this shoot was using a friend as a model, it can still be a bit daunting. My best advice is to have fun with it and be confident. If you're nervous it wont be a good time for either of you. Scout the location. It might be just a bedroom, but it can be a playground and there is always something you can use as a prop. We were lucky enough to have decent lighting on the day, but it may not have been so nice so be prepared
