The crashing lines are interesting because of the different bands and textures created by the steel blades. Great composition and shapes, geometric in the front , figures with a touch of red and blue in the middle and soft grey sky in the background.

Location
The photo was taken on frozen lake Baikal in Russia, where me and my friends had an ice skating journey. It was the most amazing and extraordinary travel in my life.Time
It was at about noon of a cloudy day.Lighting
Natural daylight determines a lot for taking pictures on the lake Baikal. Ice changes it's colour depending on time of the day, weather etc. Baikal ice looks dramatic under dark grey leaden clouds like here. Thanks to this kind of lighting you can see reflections of any object on the ice, like this group of my friends skaters.Equipment
This shot was taken on Canon 5d Mark II with Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens and polarizing filter.Inspiration
It was my dream to go to ice skating journey on lake Baikal. It's so cool and unusual way to travel. When I found myself on the ice I couldn't stop taking pictures!Editing
In 95% cases I use only Lightroom for post-processing. For this image I corrected the white balance, changed camera profile (I use X-Rite ColorChecker Passport for creating camera profiles) and corrected highlights, lights, shadows and blacks to balance exposure and add more contrast. In my camera bag
Normally when I travel I take my Canon 5d Mark II and lenses: Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, most times also Samyang 14mm f/2.8. For 24-70 and 70-200 lenses taking polarizing filters is a must. If I go to places with water like waterfalls I also take ND8 filteFeedback
Frozen Baikal is one of the best places on the Earth for photograpers. It gives you many opportunities to get a great shot. You just need to photograph the moment in the correct way. Sunrises and sunsets in most cases is the best time. Depending on the time of day the colour of the ice can change. When you appear on the ice it will be really difficult to stop taking pics!
