To the people of the city of Porto Portugal, she is known as the "naked girl", to the famous sculptor that did it, it was named "Juventude" which means "Youth", her real name was Aurélia Magalhães Monteiro and she posed for the artists of Porto in the school of Fine Arts Of Porto. She was a kind person and although at the time when she did pose it was regarded as scandalous, she was not bothered with that and was a happy woman who got married and lived her life. She was never rich, quite the opposite, but she took life as it was. She went blind at the age of 42 due to a disease, but that and poverty did not take away her positive way of living. She lived long and modestly. The sculptor that made the statue of her was Henrique Moreira and in the year of 1929, despite the many "puritan" protests at the time, this statue was placed in the main avenue of Porto where it stands since then and is very much praised by the Porto City People as well as visitors and is one of the symbols of the City.
