Looking like very thick soap suds, sea foam is usually caused when decaying organic matter, often algae blooms, mixes with sea water and is churned up by the wind and water. We came across this unusual phenomenon off the coast of California north of Santa Cruz. The surf was very high due to a series of storms and the foam provided wonderful photo opportunities!
