My living room. The mask was situated on the coffee table.Time
It was approximately 10:30 in the evening during the fall season.Lighting
The only lighting I used was a table lamp situated behind me to my left, and a candle situated on the coffee table behind the mask. I wanted to give the mask a somewhat ying/yang effect, with one side being darker/shadowed, and the other brighter.Equipment

I was working on another project that involved the use of this mask. I absolutely love this mask visually, and wanted to take some shots with it being the only subject.Editing
The post processing was quite minimal. I used the basic Microsoft Photo Gallery program to crop and make some adjustments to color and exposure, and added some sharpness. I used the online program Picassa to add the font.In my camera bag
Canon EOS 6D camera, Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS lens, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens, 50mm lens, flash, extra cards and battery charger. If I am travelling with my husband on the back of our motorbike, I always have my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V around my neck as it is fairly compact and allows me to take quick photos of gorgeous scenery or wildlife while in motion.Feedback
There is so much room for experimentation with a shot like this. Select an item that is visually appealing to you. Play with the light that is available to you such as the positioning of the light or the object. Use a candle in the background or off to the side. I prefer to use low light and no flash. Experiment with the settings on your camera. When going for sharpness, eliminate any movement of the camera. Play, have fun, and enjoy your creativity.
