Like very much the reflection and the clarity of the houses and hill!

Location
Photo was taken at Lac du Joux, the largest lake in Switzerland, lying above 1000 meters, all at Jura Mountains. At the height of winter, they said that this lake can be frozen, you can walk thru it (seriously). And as we had some friends from Wales visiting for Christmas, we thought, this is a good place to bring them to and see what Switzerland is all about --- a white Christmas.Time
T'was early in the morning when we drove from our place in Genolier to Lac du Joux, and its about an hour's drive. Quite chilly yet the snow was melting along the way. So, the prospect of seeing and walking on "frozen" lake is starting to fade. True enough, when we got there, Lac du Joux was not as frozen as we hoped for...but but but, precariously thin and crispy sheets of ice lined the crystal clear waters, creating a lovely mirror image of the snow-capped houses along the lake. It was simply glorious !Lighting
the sun was just about to shine, and I thought, its best to capture it then before the sun breaks the pristine crystal lake. And true enough, just few minutes after taking some shots, me and friends heard some "crisp" crackling sound. It actually felt rather eerie, its like watching Frozen right in front of us.Equipment
Just my old reliable Canon EOS 50D ... didn't bring my tripod, no flash, no filters used. Just a thought --- will the flash cause the crispy thin ice to crack (kidding !!!)Inspiration
Everything looked so pristine at the time. The crystal clear icy lake mirroring the beautiful village across the lake caught my eye. From my vantage point, the "tiny" houses looked like dollhouses, or cuckoo clocks Switzerland is famous for. And what with the snow-dusted pine trees on the Jura mountain (background), which created a fuzzy reflection on the icy lake... it was just magical.Editing
Yes, I did. I used Photoshop elements 9 (need to upgrade I guess), to enhanced the lighting & the contrast. I did cropped the frame to improve the symmetry of mountain on background with its reflection on foreground, creating almost a fisheye effect. That wasn't the intention though when I took the picture, but it did occur come post processing. In my camera bag
My good old Canon EOS 50D, with IS EFS 17-55mm lens is my constant companion. Now and again, i'd used CP filter. Else, I'd tag along my EF 70-200mm zoom lens. Never mind if its heavy, I got used to it.Feedback
