The Bishwa Ijtema (the World or Global Congregation or Meeting) is an annual Tablighi Jamaat Islamic movement congregation held at Tongi, Bangladesh by the river Turag. It is the 2nd largest Muslim congregation in the world after the Hajj. Before Praying Muslims go through a routine washing ritual, cleansing themselves in preparation for prayer. The ritual washing is called Wudu.

Behind The Lens

Location
Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Time
These were taken on January 23, 2004, at 04:22 PM
Lighting
I love to use natural lighting when possible. It was a cold day on January the light almost gone and the clouds on the sky people are moving around near water, I decided to take the shot with this low light.
Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 30D with Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. No other equipment was involved
Inspiration
When I saw the Muslims are preparing here for prayer at the same time in the same place and they stand in one after another it inspired me to take this photo
Editing
Not a whole lot of post-processing. This photo was taken from my documentary project. Usually, documentary photography not requires a lot of processing.
In my camera bag
All I had was my Canon Canon EOS 30D and 60D with Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 lens and Canon 28-135mm lens
Feedback
Look around and wait for the perfect moment
