Shot in January 2016 during a cold spell in a mountain range in Norway's west. I captured this image at as the temperatures dropped to -25C, all while there were still areas of open water in the nearby river. An open crack is just outside the frame. These hoarfrost conditions were perfect for forming these unique near cabbage sized (the intl' standard reference for ice flower size) ice flowers. The image was shot as night transitioned into twilight with the new moon barely lighting up the landscape. It's not a composite, everything in the frame was there. Although it is a mix of different exposures of the same scene. The shooting star was there, which I was happy with the direction of. In fact in many of my other shots from this night the sky was scattered with shooting stars, seemingly there was a meteor shower occurring.
