Location
This photo was taken in our bedroom, I saw my husband having a moment with our daughter and the light was so soft on them I grabbed my camera as quick as I could and was lucky to get this shot of them.Time
It was close to nap time for our princess in the morning, this peaceful image was a breath of fresh air.Lighting
I fell in love with the soft light that came in from the Window next to them, the way it highlighted their faces was perfect as it also highlighted the emotion on her father's expression.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark 2, used a 50mm 1.8f lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
It is not often you get to capture raw moments of pure love. It was a unposed and unplanned moment displaying raw emotion between a father and his daughter.Editing
When I edited this shot my goal was to preserve the raw emotion of this moment which is why I made it black in white, wanted to remove all distractions and focus on the feeling this photo spoke in my heart. In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 50mm 1.8f prime lens with me as well as my 90mm 2.8f macro Tamron lens. With these two lenses by my side I feel confident in my work. I also always carry my reflector with me as well as my Canon 600EX-RT Speedlight.Feedback
Always keep your camera near, you just never know when these unique and special moment may appear. Familiarise yourself with the use of natural light indoors, play around with your settings etc. so that when that moment does present itself you will have the knowledge to quickly set your camera up for the light conditions and take the perfect shot. Sometimes less is more as well, highlight in your mind the most important aspect of the moment and try focus on that to set the mood for the capture, for example: in this shot the raw emotion was my focus so I tried to simplify the image to keep the focus on their faces.
