What a brilliant composition! Dreamlike and fantastical - a wonderful image. I take my hat off to you, Jess. This is one of the best composite shots I've seen!

Location
This is actually a composite of two photos. I took the lighthouse photo at Manistique, Michigan. The moonshot was taken in my backyard.Time
I was driving back from Wisconsin and saw this lighthouse on Lake Michigan so I stopped and took a few shots .It was probably mid afternoon. The moon was shot around 9 pm in my backyard.Lighting
It was daylight but I edited the photo it to make it look like night after I added the moon.Equipment
Both were handheld shots. No flash. I used my Nikon D5500 for the Lighthouse and my Canon PowerShot SX530 HS for the Moon.Inspiration
On it's own the lighthouse wasn't a great photo, the original is posted in my gallery. I saw potential in it and wanted to create something. I was just learning how to layer and edit photos. This was one of the first ones I did using different editing and layering techniques.Editing
Yes I did. I added a golden glow across frozen lake to give it the illusion of moonglow. This is a deeply cropped image, the original is posted in my gallery showing the before and after on two different photos. I also added a light coming through the lighthouse, giving it the illusion of it being moonlight or the light from the lighthouse. I also added stones in front to give it a more finished look.In my camera bag
Nikon D5500, Canon PowerShot SX530 HS, My favorite Nikon lens are AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G, Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM, Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD.Feedback
Think out of the box, use your imagination!I have a art background so I really enjoy utilizing the creative aspects of photography. I rarely delete images. They may be used to recreate something later on. I try to build files on my computer to make it easier to locate images I want to use or review such as butterflies, moons, trees, flowers etc. Have fun with your photos! Be creative! There are many inexpensive programs you can use to recreate or enhance images. I was a beginner when I created the moon shot. I used Smart Photo Editor, it was inexpensive and very user friendly.
