Location
I took that photo at Umeå University campus in Umeå, north of Sweden.Time
It was 27 December 2015. I took my camera bag and went to the lab (I study biology). It was around the Christmas/new year holidays and almost no one was working in the lab. I worked a bit and then decided to go out and explore around the campus. The shot was taken at 1:18 pm.Lighting
It was about 1 pm and that time of the year it gets quite dark here in Umeå around that time. I had to rest my camera on one of the bars (the one that comes right out of the image) to be able to shoot at a longer shutter speed.Equipment
Camera: Nikon D3300 Lens: Sigma 8-16mm No flash and no tripod was used. The shot was taken at 8 mm, f/4.5, 1/20s.Inspiration
I had just received my Sigma 8-16 and I was excited to see what I can do with such a super wide angle. I was interested to play with perspective and distortions that I could get with that lens.Editing
I used lightroom to bring down whites a little bit. I also darkened the sky using two graduated filters and also increased overall clarity. In my camera bag
I only have one camera, Nikon D3300, so naturally it is always in my bag. I also usually take my Sigma 8-16, Sigma 105 f/2.8 macro, and Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 lenses. Sometimes, depending what I want to shoot, I take my Neewer ring flash and sometime a Yongnuo YN560 IV and a YN560-TX wireless flash controller, instead. I always pack two spare memory cards, two spare camera batteries and four spare AA batteries for the flash.Feedback
Not any special advice but I would repeat what I have heard a lot and that is always try different angles and shoot as many pictures as you can and experiment with different angles and lightings.
