Location
My cousin from Germany was visiting with us, and we went on a little back country tour. We drove south to Waterton Lakes, and came back on highway 22 through Okotoks.Time
This photo was taken late afternoon.Lighting
Just after a brief rain fall, I looked over and realized the lighting was perfect for this shot.Equipment
I was shooting with a Nikon but don't remember the body. This picture is a few years old. I used the Nikkor 24 - 70 2.8 lens. I stood in the middle of the highway and prayed no one was coming behind me - so handheld, not tripod or flash was used in the making of this photo.Inspiration
What inspired me to take this shot? The color contrasts. The dark wet pavement, the moisture in the grass bringing out the colors a little more; the rainbow was vivid and I was able to see the whole arc and where it was positioned over the highway.Editing
I rarely do any post-processing of my work. So, what you see is what I saw. I like the natural look. I let nature speak for itself. In my camera bag
Normally I lug around 35 pounds of equipment in my bag. All 3 of my lenses are 2.8 and are all Nikkor. I have a 24 - 70, 70 - 200 and a 300. For bodies, I have a D800, D750, and D500 which I absolutely love!! I shoot a lot of sports photography, so the D500 is a dream to work with. I have a Manfrotto graphite tripod.Feedback
Can I offer any advice? I would say just open your eyes and look at what mother nature has to offer. Rain isn't always a bad thing. Greens are greener blacks are blacker... all by mother nature.
