I captured this moment while my family and I were on holiday out in Lake Ferry ( New Zealand). We had booked a very basic bach for a couple of weeks with our 2 daughters. We were very lucky to be situated very close to the beautiful Paliser Bay.Time
This was taken around 9pm. We were just standing on the deck outside drinking wine and enjoying the lovely warm weather when I noticed how beautiful it looked out to sea. I went and got my camera, an old Canon Powershot SX 10 and just snapped away.Lighting
Although night was drawing on, there was enough light for me to take some reasonable shots. As it was several years ago, I can't even remember what setting I had..It was literally one of those point and shoot moments.Equipment
I just used a Canon Powershot SX 10 which I still have but personally no longer use.Inspiration
I just wanted to capture a beautiful moment from a great holiday with my family.Editing
I think I only did a bit of cropping and contrasting but that was all.In my camera bag
my trusted Canon EOS1100D and the larger of my 2 lenses. I also have a Canon SX620 HS that I use as school ( I am a teacher Aide) to get shots in the classroom as I do find if I get my other camera out it becomes intrusive. I also carry spare memory packs and SD cards.Feedback
I am just a total amateur who just happens to get a decent shot now and again. I find it hard to give advice to others as there are so many people who are so knowledgeable about getting their settings and lighting right. I just like to point and shoot.
