Location
This picture was taken at Lakeshore State Park in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, located along the shores of Lake Michigan.Time
I decided to head down to the park to photograph some shots of the Milwaukee skyline, but was pleasantly surprised to see such vivid greenery and plant life. It was around 4pm CST that I began my walk through the park. I got lots of great images that day, but this was by far my favorite.Lighting
There was actually a decent amount of cloud cover and overcast weather, so it made for nice, even, natural lighting.Equipment
This picture was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T2i and my EF-S 18-55mm. No filters or other equipment was used.Inspiration
The beautiful bright pink contrast against the green and blue backgrounds gave a really unique look. The bokeh effect drew my eye to the foreground flower, while showing the many that echoed it in the background. I loved the simple repetition of the flower and the beauty of it against the overcast sky.Editing
I used Lightroom to process this in post. I brought up the saturation a bit, while cooling the tones as well. I also decided to use an adjustment brush to brighten up the main flower in the foreground. In my camera bag
I normally only carry my Canon T2i and a few lenses. I've since decided to keep my 18-55mm at home and bring only my 50mm and ultra-wide 10-18mm. The ultra-wide makes for some seriously cool urban shots.Feedback
Bokeh bokeh bokeh! I think these shots look gorgeous when you use a really wide aperture. Prime lenses work best. I wish I had my 50mm f1.8 when I took this, as it could have been even better.
