My first photograph after arriving in USA. Shot from Roosevelt Island and in the skyline is Manhattan. It was like a dream come true. All my life, I've only had the opportunity to appreciate others' images and now I have my own version. This is and HDR created from 3 separate exposures.

This was the first photo that I took when I arrived here in USA. It was shot from Roosevelt Island.Time
Shot this amazing view pretty late at night.Lighting
We all know how NYC is depicted as "A city that never sleeps". So my motive was to keep the lights as well its reflection on the river. The long exposure ensured a motion of the clouds so as to portray that the city is truly not sleeping even at this late hour.Equipment
I used my trusty Nikon D7000 DSLR with the 18-105mm lens at the widest end. The setup was mounted on a tripod and I used a wireless remote to trigger the camera for the long exposure.Inspiration
I had promised myself that the first thing I would do after arriving in USA was to capture the ever so scenic skyline of Manhattan. After this tremendous long flight of almost 24 hours, this was how far I could drag myself.Editing
This photo is a 3-exposure HDR image. There was too much variation in lighting so I opted to capture separate images and then compose a balanced HDR image. In my camera bag
Now, I mostly pack my Nikon D750 but on longer roadtrips or projects, I'll definitely pack the D7000 as well. The 50mm 1.8D is always there as well as the 70-300mm and the tokina 11-16mm. There's a GoPro too.Feedback
For a bustling city like NYC, you cannot go wrong with a night shot. If there is a waterbody then it's even better. Cloud drama? Yes, please. Tripod is a must and don't forget the wide angle lens.
