Location
We were away in Gisborne, New Zealand on holiday and were driving to a nearby town to look at a waterfall when we spot this beautiful Kingfisher on a power line. We managed to pull over even though we were on a motorway so I could take some photos of it.Time
It was taken in the morning although I am certain about the exact time of day. It was a beautiful summer's day in the Hawkes Bay.Lighting
As it was an opportunistic moment and we were on the motorway, I really did not have the time to check the conditions.Equipment
This was taken on a Canon 1100D with a 70-300mm zoom lens. I did not use any other accessories.Inspiration
It was just an opportunistic moment to capture a beautiful bird.Editing
All I did in the post-processing was to crop the photo and contrast it.In my camera bag
I now have a number of cameras at my disposable including a Canon 850D with various lens and a new Nikon Coolpix P1000, Memory cards and back up batteries.Feedback
Just grab the moment when you see something special to photograph. Sometimes if you are a motorway it isn't always easy to pull over into a safe parking spot so as a passenger, I have been known to have my camera ready to take a photo as the car is moving! Sometimes I can pull it off and come up with a reasonable shot!
