Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photograph in Wells Gray Provincial Park, in British Columbia. We happened to drive up on this cutie as he was foraging in the brush. As we paused to watch him, he popped up to take a look at us too!
Time
It was taken in the afternoon during the summer. The area was thick with brush and tall trees, so the sunlight was soft and filtered.
Lighting
Natural lighting is best. Filtered sunlight can be achieved by shooting in a forest. Sometimes the simplest methods have the best results.
Equipment
At this time, I was using a Sony camera that I happened to have for the trip.
Inspiration
It was an entirely spontaneous bear sighting. However, I chose to take the photograph because I thought the circumstances were whimsical. The bear seemed just as surprised as we were to see him, and I wanted to capture that expression.
Editing
N/A
In my camera bag
I have a Canon Rebel t6i and a Canon t5 as well as Tamron 70-300 mm and Tamron SP150-600 mm lenses.
Feedback
Always be prepared! If I hadn't had my camera sitting beside me on the car seat, I would have missed the opportunity to take this image. Be prepared to act quickly, and develop a steady hand for when tripods aren't able to be used. And don't always feel like you have to zoom in tightly in every frame...capturing wildlife in their habitat sometimes makes the image more interesting to the eye.
